Kutay Derin Kugay, currently, is the programmer and host of Music of the World Istanbul at Acik Radyo 95.0 FM in Istanbul. Kugay has been teaching the World Music and Beyond class at Bilgi University as a lecturer in Istanbul since 2018. He was co-founder and program director of the San Francisco World Music Festival from 1999 to 2010. He was a world music radio programmer and host of Music of the World program at KPFA 94.1 FM in Berkeley, CA from 1988 to 2013. Since 2016 Kugay has been a jury member panelist for Transglobal World Music Chart. Founded in 1996 he’s the owner and founder of the record company 7/8 Music Productions which produced eleven albums. Kugay was the co-founder of the Green Yayla Culture, Arts and Environment Festival in North-Eastern mountains of Turkey from 2005 to 2015. He has been an avid record collector almost all his life. Kugay is the founder and director of the Nowruz International Project. Presently, Kugay is a consultant to the MusiConnectAsia organization.
